Night School Meeting There will be a meeting held in the couneil chamber, city hall, at eight o'clock this evening, to which all those interested in the proposed night schools are ear- nestly invited. THE DAILY NEWS the Lette Box. In REPLY TO MUNICIPAL REVIEW To the Editor of the Daily News: Sir,—In the Evening Empire of December the fifth is published an effusion in the shape of a let- ter grossly miscalled “A Review of the Municipal Situation,” Its claim to such a title is as ridicul- ous as ils statements irrespon- sible, and it reflects the greatest discredit both to the individual in whose brain the twaddle orig- inated, and’ to those responsible for its publication. The “Review” commences with half a paragraph of consolatory words for Ex-Alderman Morris- sey who has only his wavering indecision to thank that he is not included in the impeachment of those he was too rigid to support last January and whose ineffi- ciency he now’ devotes so much time in deploring. The writer goes on to say that “it did not require the mind of a prophet nor the provision of a Seer to see the humiliating and deplorable condition which was to overtake the city by the elec- tion of some of these irrespon- sible shysters,” Possibly their correspondent when next addres- sing them would be so kind as to justify his implied assertion that the city is now in a humiliating and deplorable condition. The remainder of the “Review” is devoted to an aggressive per- sonal attack on the council in general and on Mayor Pattullo in particular. How such an epistle, embody- ing as it does so much that is vulgarly abusive and so little that is critical ,can claim to be termed ‘Review of the Municipal Situation” is quite beyond the limits of my comprehension. In conelusion I would recom- mend to their correspondent that he ‘mark, read, learn, and in- wardiy digest’ his own excellent quotation ‘Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is considered wise, and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of under- standing.’ (Prov. 27-20)., be- fore he again attempts to dis- parage those over whom, what- ever their imperfections and shortcomings, he himself is un- known to have displayed super- ior ability in any direction. Yours truly IMPARTIAL. Nature and Art » What lady is there who does not love a plump = cheek, a clear eye and a well-rounded form. Na- ture intended all these good things but neglect and ignorance have thwarted her purpose. Human genius, however, can correct many of these mistakes and by the use of modern appli- ances and treatments all these marks of beauty can be restored. Mrs. Handasyde, on Fourth St., who is an expert in that line, is ready to supply all these treat- ments to the ladies of Prince Rupert. Since opening her par- lors she has installed all the us- ual appliances and now. she has secured the Blackstone Vacuum Massager ,which is almost entir- ely new on this side of the water. This appliance itself will work wonders in restoring or assisting nature to be what was intended. It acts on the sensible idea that an increased circulation of the blood is all that is required to give a spark to the eye, an arch to the lips and a general round- ness to the form. This appliance acts as a vacum cup and is moved about over the desired parts so that the air be- ing removed the blood rushes in- to clogged-up tissues, washing oul the impurities and forming new channels instead of those that are decayed, After a few of these applications the blood channels are restored as nature intended and with that all the bloom and dash of youth.
