We again emerged at the mouth of Blue Creek and struck towards West River where the launch was located. All along the beach we found rocks impreg- nated with tar and asphaltum and the prospects were the best that could be imagined. Our next move was to Tiahn Point and there the shale we found in place and every indication of oil. There is little seepage but the oil drill has been through black shale sand and reached warm water be- fore work was stopped. One of the members of the company took a sample of the black shale, pla- ced it in a glass tube and ignited it. There is no place in the province of British Columbia where better indications of oil can be found and one of the greatest of geologists, the late Sir G. M.
