JUNEAU, Aug. 9: (CP) It was revealed yesterday that "gold in small quantities" has been taken from the salvaged steamer Islander, now beached at Admiralty Island after having sunk over thirty years ago, but whether or not the huge treasure reputed to have been on the old Kondyke god ship was there was not stated. Efforts which have been under way for the past few years to salvage the Islander were finally rewarded with success a few days ago When the vessel was raised and beached.
